A BOOK TO READ

A BOOK TO READ

23/05/2021 Slået fra Af Jari Dolberg
Deep inside a certain house in a specific street
in a room behind a maze of bookcases he is sitting
at a desk, reading a book unknown to me and mumbles
words I can not understand
Piles of dusty old books cover the windows and an
old lamp casts an eerie dim light just enough to
make out the words, his greatest love of all, words
Books that make his mind travel and transcend time
and place
His own spoken mumbling words becomes clearer
and tells a story of a time when his beloved
words were burnt on big fires, a hate towards learned
thoughts, thrown out of windows and onto the street
He senses my presence, turns his head a tear is
running down his cheek and with a clear voice
saying, we must write more words, fill the books
with truth and honesty, thus with hope. Let not the
pages be filled with words that are shallow or vain
